What Is a Group Gift Fund?
Rather than hoping for enough gift cards to cover the big stuff, use your group gift fund to ask for the specific things you need. This benefits wedding or housewarming registrants who may already have some of the more traditional gifts—kitchen utensils, small appliances and bathroom towels—as well as expectant parents who may need nursery furniture more than onesies and toys. Allowing guests to go in on an item on the list gives your loved ones the opportunity to make an important contribution toward your big life event. The more traditional gifters who hesitate to send a gift card might feel more comfortable showing up without a physical gift if they know they’ve pitched in to purchase one.
Baby Shower Group Gift Ideas
-
Nursery Furniture
Welcome your new addition into the world by registering for nursery furniture. A new crib makes a memorable group baby shower gift for your loved ones to go in on. For added versatility as your little one ages, consider registering for a crib that also converts into a toddler bed. Then, ensure you have everything you need ahead of the big day by adding crib sheets and a crib quilt as traditional registry items. You might want to register for other nursery furniture as well, including a changing table, dresser or glider chair. When choosing items for your group gift fund, look for pieces with high visibility in the home. Shower guests love to give gifts they know you'll use often, especially if they'll be able to see you using them.
-
Baby Gear
Babies not only require a lot of tender love and care, they also need a lot of gear. Consider other large baby necessities for baby shower group gifts. Your new bundle of joy will need a stroller for relaxing walks in the open air, as well as a baby monitor so you can keep an eye (and ear) on them as they sleep. And soon enough, your little one will be ready to take their meals sitting up, so think about adding a high chair and tray for their first experiences with solid food to your group gift fund.

Kitchen and Dining
Need wedding registry group gifting ideas? Look to cookware and small appliances—standing mixers, powerful blenders, full cookware sets—to ensure you have everything you need in the kitchen. Because modern-day couples are getting married later in life, many go into their marriages already equipped with the basic kitchen necessities. Even so, getting hitched can be an opportunity to upgrade, especially for lovebirds who enjoy cooking together. A set of professional-quality pots and pans will get a lot of use and last for many years to come, while upgrading from a hand mixer to a standing one will allow for easier meal and dessert prep. For the couple who already has everything, consider upgrading to a specialty appliance—for example, swapping a traditional coffee maker for an espresso machine.

Furniture
If your big day coincides with moving into a new home, a sofa, dining table or bedroom furniture set make memorable group wedding gifts. If you have older items you've been meaning to replace, now's your opportunity to upgrade to something new. Visit a store location to see your favorites in person. If you already have the basics covered, you might want to register for other furniture options, such as a bar cabinet, outdoor dining set or desk and bookshelf for the home office.
-
Specialty Items
Some big ticket items aren't so much essentials as they are luxuries. It's your special day, after all, so if you already have the basics covered, let your wedding guests treat you to something you want instead. If you and the future spouse are wine drinkers, register for a wine cellar to keep your collection at the optimum temperature. If you're planning on entertaining family and friends, consider registering for something for your game room, such as a pool table. Alternatively, add to your home's aesthetic with engaging decor. Area rugs and framed artwork showcase your style while catching the eyes of your visitors.
How to Create a Group Gift Fund
Easily add an item to your Group Gift Fund by following these easy steps:
- Browse for a big ticket item (either in-store or online)
- Add the product to your registry using the Add to Registry button or by scanning in-store
- Go online, visit the Manage My Registry page, then click Add to Group Gift Fund beneath the desired group gift item
After setup, the group gift fund will be displayed at the top of your registry page alongside a progress meter showing the remaining contributions needed. Your loved ones can then give a monetary amount of their choice toward the item or items. You can add up to 5 items to your group gift fund. Afterward, your loved ones' monetary contributions will be redeemable in the form of gift cards. However, this feature is only available online and only for registries created after March 21, 2018 (with limited exceptions).
