How did you come up with your inspiration for your event?
We wanted it to feel like a fresh take on tradition, that could play cool or cozy, depending on the look you were after. Which was perfect for our event as it snowed – cozy mode please!
Looking for inspiration on how to have a classic wedding with a 2019 twist? We chatted with Shannon of Shannon Gail Events who interviewed Jocelyn Arnold from Ella Events at our latest registry event at Crate Bridgeport Valley. The event was full of romance in all the best ways with formal dinner settings and a blush floral entryway arch.
Couples were welcomed into the store for an intimate registry experience, one-on-one assistance from our store team members, and the opportunity to draw inspiration from some of Oregon’s top wedding professionals. We sat down with Jocelyn Arnold from Ella Events to discuss color trends and her top advice for registering couples.

We’re blessed with such a creative and dynamic vendor community in Portland! Rose Bean Events & Design did their take on a romantic formal dinner setting, HART Floral did a ceremony arch installation and talked with couples about color trends, shown off in a bud vase display, Stumptown Booth took gifs and boomerangs of guests in action all around the store, and Ella Paper Goods gave tips on how to write a perfect (and painless) thank you note – with notes to take home and get started!
We’re in a blue period right now, and Crate offers so many fun ways to play on that. We layered indigos and whites with lots of mixed metal accents and texture. We also worked in some of those lifetime pieces, ones that each time someone compliments you on them, you’ll say, “oh, I got that as a wedding gift!” and think back on this wonderful time and all the special moments since. For us, those items are: a Kitchen-Aid, linen napkins, french steak knives, a Le Creuset, a large statement vase, and a wonderful quilt.
Pick a color palate, then register for a wide variety of items within that scope so you can layer them together in new and interesting ways, but they’ll always look cohesive. In this way, you’ll also both get to represent your own personal styles but everything will still coordinate. There will be plenty of compromise down the road, but in this case, you can get the stoneware and the porcelain.
