5 Long-Lasting Floral Arrangements for your Bathroom
Fresh florals in the bath aren’t just for Instagram. 100 Layer Cake share some of their favorite long lasting flowers.
Hiya, friends! 100LC here with a new round of wedding registry faves, in honor of Crate and Barrel’s fresh new bath assortments, featuring more modern hues, fabrics, and styles for all you gearing up for married life. Just like every other room in our home, we can’t talk decor without talking flowers. (We’re from California, can you blame us?!) House plants can be tough enough to nail down already without the sometimes awkward lighting and temperatures that bathrooms can bring. They’re like their own little microclimate at times. So when you’re dreaming up which towels and storage and vases to add to the Registry, you might want to know which fresh greens and blooms will look lovely and last long in the space:
1. Olive branches
First up, we have olive branches in a Wood Marble Wine Cooler (we just love this so much we can’t stow it away every time we’re not entertaining, and we’re all about finding unexpected ways to use pretty Registry pieces again and again). Olive branches are inexpensive, readily available (if you’re here in California, you’ll probably find them walking around your neighborhood!), and they have that effortless, rustic modern thing going for them, which we all love. They can be pretty dried, too.
2. Hydrangea
Some people love them, some people don’t, but hydrangeas are another large, inexpensive bloom that comes in a range of colors (we like this vintage-y neutral) and if the conditions are right they dry to a perfect light sandy color that you can keep for months in the same container.
BTW, about those fluffy white Turkish towels right there—you’ll hear more about them in our blog post, but these are a Registry must! They come in 8 brand new spa-like shades (including a classic white), all made of double-ply cotton threads and woven with a looped rather than tight construction so they dry quickly and last long. Plus, they’re just so so soft.
3. Eucalyptus
Similar to olive in longevity and availability, and there are so many varieties to choose from. This arrangement uses seeded eucalyptus and mountain gum—both really easy to find at a grocery store or farmer’s market in huge bunches that drape beautifully over a pretty ceramic piece like the Holden Vase
