3 Kids Holiday Crafts for Festive Fun at Home

Looking for a fun way to spend an afternoon? Check out our roundup of easy DIY holiday projects that kids of all ages (and grown-ups!) can create right at home.

1. DIY Thanksgiving Garland. Print out a few copies of our fall leaves printables. Kids can trace and color the leaves any shade their heart desires. To create a garland, simply use a hole punch to make a hole in each leaf, then use twine to thread the leaves together. A simple, festive and kid-powered way to celebrate the natural beauty of the season.

2. DIY Cardboard Gingerbread House. We love this version of a gingerbread house because cardboard makes for a super sturdy structure—so little builders can create without fear of any, er, structural damage (i.e., the house falling apart).

Materials
Cardboard
Glue
Red Vines licorice
Red and white striped straws
Sugared gumdrops

Instructions
1. Using cardboard, cut out all the pieces from the template.
2. Cut out all the windows and doors (dashed lines on template).
3. Attach cardboard pieces together using sturdy glue.
4. Use glue to line the roof with licorice.
5. Use glue to line the door and window frames with straws.
6. Use glue to line the round windows with sugared gumdrops.

Gingerbread House

3. DIY Paper Snowflake Window Clings. Use our snowflake printables to create a wintry wonderland, right at home. Print and cut out snowflakes, then color and attach to windows. This makes for a great self-guided project for elementary school-age children or a fun activity for the whole family to do together.
