“I was working as a private chef when Michelle Obama’s Let’s Move initiative asked chefs to go into schools and teach children about the importance of nutrition. I thought that I would volunteer for a day or two...but after spending time with the kids, I saw that there was a tremendous need to provide kids with cooking skills...I quickly realized that I wanted to impact as many children as possible, so I created Wellness with Bella to encompass a more holistic approach to wellness for our students.”

“When I was younger, I would help my mom make dinner and my sister and I began to play ‘restaurant.’ We would cook our version of a ‘four-course meal’ for my parents every Friday night: applesauce, salad, spaghetti and, for dessert, a Rice Krispies treat! That sparked my interest in cooking, which led to me working in restaurants in high school. I fell in love with the restaurant industry, so I decided to move to Chicago to go to hospitality and culinary school. I knew then that I wanted to be a chef. What I love most about being a chef is, by far, the people. Creating great tasting food for people to enjoy is my passion, it’s what continues to fuel my journey.”
