summary
An Easter ham is not only a fantastic way to feed a family, it’s also incredibly easy and can be done several hours ahead of time and served at room temperature. This maple bourbon ham recipe is super flavorful thanks to pure maple syrup, bourbon and a touch of Dijon mustard.
ingredients
- ½ cup pure maple syrup
- ½ cup packed dark brown sugar
- ¼ cup bourbon
- 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
- 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
- 1 fully cooked, bone-in spiral-cut ham (6–7 pounds)
directions
- Preheat the oven to 325°F. Place the ham, cut-side down, in a roasting pan.
- Add the maple syrup, brown sugar, bourbon and Dijon mustard to a saucepan and set over medium heat. Cook, stirring often, until the glaze thickens, 6 to 8 minutes. Using a pastry brush, brush about â…“ of the glaze all over the ham.
- Transfer to the oven and bake for 20 minutes. Remove the ham and baste with another â…“ of the glaze. Bake the ham for 20 more minutes.
- Once again, remove the ham from the oven and brush with the rest of the glaze. Transfer back to the oven and bake until the internal temperature reaches 140°F, about 30–40 more minutes.
- Place the glazed ham on a platter and serve at once.
notes
If the glaze gets too thick between bastings, simply rewarm over medium-low heat.
